Gay History Tours

If you're a resident, tourist or visitor to Nottingham, why not take a stroll around the city centre with a friendly and experienced tour guide and hear re-discovered stories of its gay life.

An award-winning tour guide since 1988, Tony Scupham-Bilton - a member of Nottinghamshire's Rainbow Heritage - is well qualified to provide this unique service to Nottingham (you may have been on one of his charismatic tours of the caves underneath Nottingham Castle).

NRH hopes to record some of Tony's tours on video. In the meantime, for more information, or to arrange a tour, please contact by e-mail at

Tours operate in the daytime (at other times by special arrangement). Groups are welcome - tours for individuals may be arranged (but it's more fun in a group). Tours last about an hour, and the whole route is wheelchair friendly. The tours are not designed as a profit-making venture, though a small charge of £3 per head is requested to help develop the tours.

Tony Scupham-Bilton is the author of Robin Hood - Creating the Legend, the story of gay 14th century author and famous historical Nottinghamian, Sir John Clanvowe.
