The Chameleon Group for Trans people, first met at 31a Mansfield Road, the old address of Nottingham Council for Voluntary Service where Nottingham Switchboard used to be based. The group sprung out of an initiative by Nottingham Switchboard/Nottingham Friend.

In 1983 the group acquired its own meeting place at Wollaton Grange Community Centre, where they stayed for about 20 years. There was a short stay in Arnold and now they are based at The Temple Community Centre in Nuthall.
